BENGALURU: With the southwest monsoon intensifying across Karnataka, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Monday, warning of extremely heavy rainfall.

IMD issues red alert for five Kerala districts on June 6, warning of extremely heavy rainfall and orange alerts for others.

Kerala is on red alert as a cyclonic circulation triggers heavy rainfall and flooding, coinciding with the southwest monsoon's rapid advance across India.
