Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram districts have been put on red alert on Saturday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert, warning of extremely heavy rainfall for five districts in north Kerala on Saturday (June 5, 2026).Kasaragod, Kannur, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Malappuram districts were put on red alert where rain over 204 mm is likely in 24 hours.The rest of Kerala has been put on orange alert, except for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, and Alappuzha, where very heavy rain is likely.The IMD has also put three districts – Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad – on red alert on Sunday (June 7, 2026) and issued orange alert for Kasaragod, Kannur, Thrissur and Palakkad districts for the same day.Meanwhile, heavy rain has been lashing eight distrcts, from Ernakulam to Kasaragod on Thursday, where orange alert has been issued for the day.
