Free travel for women in KSRTC buses to cost Rs 712-1,300 cr annually, says Minister CP John

Kerala will introduce free bus travel for women on KSRTC buses from June 15. The scheme, a poll guarantee, will include transgender persons. State Transport Minister CP John stated the annual cost will range from Rs 712 crore to Rs 1,300 crore. John said details of the scheme would be announced by Chief Minister VD Satheesan after the Cabinet meeting on June 10. The government stated that it will provide the necessary subsidy.
