LONDON: The UN has blacklisted Israel over sexual violence in conflict zones, Israeli officials confirmed on Thursday. An upcoming annual report from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres includes Israel’s prison service among groups such as Hamas and Daesh, the Jerusalem Post reported. Other Israeli authorities will be monitored for the possibility of future inclusion on the list, the newspaper said. The UN, and a number of Israeli and international human right groups, have accused Israel of systematically using sexual violence against Palestinians since October 2023.

"Anyone who is able to include Israel on the same list as Hamas terrorists and rapists has no sense of morality," said Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon.
