Accompanied by torrential rainfall, Cyclone Ditwah triggered landslides and floods that killed at least 410 people, with 336 still missing. President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has issued an appeal for international assistance.

Cyclone Ditwah has destroyed more than 15,000 homes, sending 78,000 people to state-run temporary shelters, the contry's Disaster Management Centre said.
