The proposed body, named the Gaza International Transitional Authority (Gita), would act as the supreme political and legal authority for up to five years. Modelled on transitions in Timor-Leste and Kosovo, Gita would initially exclude the Palestinian Authority but aims for eventual unification of all Palestinian territory under the PA. The plan, which reportedly has the full support of US President Donald Trump, suggests Gita could be based in el-Arish, Egypt, and supported by an Arab multinational force endorsed by the UN.
