Poland's military command said Polish airspace was repeatedly violated by "drone-type objects" during the Russian attack across the border in Ukraine.

It was the first time the NATO member directly engaged with Russian military assets in its airspace since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the drones posed a “direct threat” to his country and were therefore shot down.
