Tear gas has been fired at protestors outside the home of ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan as officers arrived to arrest the disgraced politician.

A dozen policemen and around 35 of Imran Khan's supporters were injured as they gathered to stop police arresting him.

Police in the eastern city of Lahore planned to serve Mr Khan with a warrant to appear in court in Islamabad later this week for allegedly selling state gifts he had received during his term as premier and concealing his assets.

They fired tear gas at the house as supporters of the 71-year-old opposition leader hurled rocks and bricks at the officers.

Mr Khan was ousted in a no-confidence vote last April and is struggling to regain his previous political credibility after being accused of failing to reveal that he had fathered a love child with a British heiress.
