US President Donald Trump claimed a breakthrough on Monday in diplomacy between Ukraine and Russia, although his unsubstantiated declaration only elicited a very reserved comment from Ukraine and no immediate word from the Kremlin.
The assertion comes amid indications from both Russia and Ukraine that they would be willing to continue with US-brokered negotiations, which have been largely stagnant throughout Trump's second term.
