TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple has reportedly raised the prices of the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16 shortly after unveiling the iPhone 18 series.According to a report by Gizmochina on Friday, September 11, prices for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16 in the United States have each climbed by roughly US$100 (about Rp1.7 million).In the US market, the starting price of the iPhone 17 rose to US$899 (around Rp15.8 million), the iPhone 17e to US$699 (around Rp12.3 million), the iPhone Air to US$1,099 (around Rp19.3 million), and the 128GB base model of the iPhone 16 to US$799 (around Rp17 million).Similar adjustments hit the Indian market, where the iPhone 17 now starts at 99,900 rupees (around Rp18.4 million), the iPhone Air at 149,900 rupees (around Rp27.6 million), the iPhone 17e at 79,900 rupees (around Rp14.7 million), and the iPhone 16 at 89,900 rupees (around Rp16.5 million).These price shifts come after Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Duo while discontinuing direct sales of the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.Historically, Apple lowers the prices of its previous-generation iPhones following the launch of a new model.The company's strategic pivot after the iPhone 18 rollout is thought to reflect the pressure of rising component costs on the broader smartphone market.The price increases across several iPhone models are attributed to ongoing memory chip shortages driven by heavy demand from artificial intelligence data centers.Apple has also previously raised prices on Macs, iPads, and the HomePod.
