Baltic energy executives argue Europe needs a mix of technologies to balance decarbonisation, competitiveness and security

Europe’s energy transition must cut emissions, keep energy affordable and protect against geopolitical shocks. That makes the case for betting on a single technological pathway harder to sustain.
At the Baltic Energy Conference in Warsaw at the beginning of September, executives argued for a broader mix of solutions, from electrification and energy efficiency to hydrogen, carbon capture, renewable gases and nuclear power.
“I don’t see a single solution to solve our huge challenges. We need to have all possible sources,” said Herkko Plit, CEO of P2X Solutions, during a panel on emerging energy technologies.
