The cause of death of popular Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis remained undetermined following a forensic examination Friday, with toxicological and other laboratory tests expected to shed further light on the circumstances, authorities said.
The autopsy produced findings, but they were not sufficient to establish a clear cause of death, according to the forensic pathologist’s initial assessment.
The examination had initially been scheduled for Thursday but was postponed at the request of Mazonakis’ family to allow it to appoint a technical adviser. The family appointed forensic pathologist Sotiris Bouzianis, who attended the examination.
According to information obtained by Kathimerini, the state-appointed forensic pathologist and the family’s technical adviser agreed that the cause of death could not be determined at this stage.
