AbbVie Inc. (NYSE:ABBV) on Thursday released topline results from its Phase 3 LUNA clinical trial.
The study assessed atogepant, an oral calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist, as a preventive medication for adults experiencing menstrual migraines.
Primary Endpoint Achieved
Trial investigators administered atogepant for seven consecutive days, beginning three days before the start of menstruation, spanning three menstrual cycles.
The medication successfully met its primary endpoint, demonstrating a greater reduction in perimenstrual migraine days when compared to a placebo.
