At 6:43 p.m. local time, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES) confirmed that a Russian drone struck the shopping mall, noting that a fire broke out on the building’s roof. “Less than an hour later, the enemy struck the city with guided aerial bombs,” the SES reported. “An apartment building, about 15 private homes, two stores, and residents’ vehicles sustained damage.” Due to the threat of repeated strikes, also known as “double-tap” strikes, emergency crews and rescuers had to repeatedly suspend operations and take shelter. Toll climbs as details confirmed The initial report said two children – girls aged 8 and 17 – were injured alongside four adults. All of the six victims received hospital treatment. “Also today, the enemy struck a shopping mall in Sumy for a second time,” Hryhorov said, adding that the woman had received medical assistance on the site. Hryhorov issued an update at 5:16 p.m. local time, confirming a third injured child – a 14-year-old boy – had been taken to the hospital. The overall number of people injured, according to the latest update, had risen to 11.
