President Donald Trump on Thursday announced $500 rebate checks for roughly one million Americans who were overcharged under Obamacare, coming just one day after he pledged $5,000 midterm “dividends” if Republicans control Congress.
The claims were shared in an X post by The White House.

In a Thursday note, Trump said this payout, estimated to cost over $1 trillion, would be funded by the economic success under his leadership. However, the proposal raises questions about its impact on the federal budget, which is already running a deficit nearing $1.8 trillion.
Legal challenges could also arise, as offering payments to influence voting behavior is a criminal offense.
