A woman assistant engineer of the Thiruppullani Panchayat Union was suspended from service for accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 to issue a permit for extracting silt from a water tank.Sheik Dilshad Parveen, an Assistant Engineer of the Thiruppullani Panchayat Union in Ramanathapuram district, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹5,000 from a farmer to extract silt for agricultural use from a local tank.Following this, while she was accepting a bribe of ₹3,000 at her residence in Sethupathi Nagar near the Ramanathapuram Collectorate on August 29 Ramanathapuram Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) police caught her red-handed and arrested her.She was subsequently produced before a court and jailed.
