A 44-year-old assistant engineer attached to Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (TNPDCL) was arrested for bribery on Friday (July 31). A resident of K.R. Thoppur approached the TNPDCL office in the same locality for getting a new power connection for his house. There, assistant engineer Kavitha (44) demanded ₹7,000 as bribe from him. But unwilling to give a bribe, he approached Salem DVAC officials, and they set a trap.
