U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday, September 9, that the war with the Islamic Republic will end “immediately” following the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, asserting that Tehran lacks the capacity to sustain its current posture.
Speaking to reporters before departing for a Republican Party convention in Dallas, Trump remarked: “I think the war is going to end immediately after the election, because they can’t hold out any longer.”
He further claimed that the Islamic Republic is “desperate” and actively attempting to influence the U.S. midterm vote.
According to Trump, Tehran hopes the election will yield leadership in Washington that would reduce economic and military pressure on the regime.
The U.S. midterm elections are scheduled for November 3. Surging global fuel prices driven by ongoing regional hostilities have emerged as a primary economic vulnerability for Republicans ahead of the vote.
