Alarm sirens rang out in cities across Germany on Thursday morning at 11am. Mobile phones made shrill alarm noises and displayed warning text messages. Official warning apps triggered notifications.
If you live in Germany you would (hopefully) get an emergency warning in this form in the event of a major natural disaster in your area, or in the event of a military attack.
But don't worry -- there was no danger on Thursday. This alarm was just a drill.
It comes as an annual test of Germany's national, state and local emergency broadcast channels, which happens every year on 'Warning Day' (Warntag).
