A large sinkhole has opened outside a Malibu beachfront mansion reportedly owned by Oscar-winning US actor Nicolas Cage.
The hole emerged early on Tuesday morning, swallowing up part of the house's driveway and triggering a gas leak.
Gas supplies were temporarily cut along a 26-metre section of the street because of concerns about coastal erosion. Authorities also barred entry to five homes in the luxurious neighbourhood.
The private street lies between the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Coast Highway.
No-one was reportedly hurt.
