Bulgaria’s men’s national volleyball team opened its European Championship campaign with a convincing victory, defeating North Macedonia 3–0 in Sofia.
The Bulgarian team won the match 25–17, 25–19, 25–18, taking control of each set in the closing stages.
“We played point-for-point until the midway mark of all three sets. We outperformed our opponent in the closing stages, which speaks to our quality. I’m happy,” Aleksandar Nikolov said after the match.
Bulgaria will play its second match of the tournament on Friday, again in Sofia. The national team will face Portugal at 7:00 PM.
