Chennai Metrowater has issued show-cause notices to five restaurants in T. Nagar and Ashok Nagar for failing to maintain diaphragm chambers in their premises to prevent clogging of drains.A press release said a surprise check was conducted on Wednesday at 31 restaurants in zone 10 to check maintenance of diaphragm chambers to prevent solid waste from entering the sewer lines. However, it was found that poor maintenance of such chambers in five restaurants, including those in Pondy Bazaar and G.N. Road led to frequent sewage blocks and overflow.
