EV demand has cooled and federal tax credits have disappeared, but electric SUVs remain a genuinely strong category, according to Edmunds, whose editors had to go eight vehicles deep on their small electric SUV list before finding one that scored below a 7 out of 10, with most top picks landing closer to 8.
Edmunds based these rankings on multiple weeks of real-world driving, including its own EV range test measuring actual distance on a full charge, alongside instrumented testing at its private test track, splitting winners across six distinct size and market categories.
