Operators of the Active Operations Department of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), as part of a joint deep-strike operation with other components of the Defense Forces, struck infrastructure at Russia’s naval base in Novorossiysk overnight on September 9, as well as the Project 11356 frigate Admiral Essen.
As reported by Ukrinform, the DIU said this on Facebook.
The precision strikes sparked a fire in the deck superstructure of the Admiral Essen missile carrier.
The Admiral Essen is a carrier of Kalibr cruise missiles, which Russia routinely uses to carry out terrorist strikes against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure.
The DIU recalled that in August, the DIU and the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Russian missile carriers Admiral Essen and Admiral Makarov, as well as the Vasily Bykov patrol ship.
