Overnight on September 10, 2026, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Makhachkala Commercial Seaport in the Republic of Dagestan, while on September 9 they also struck at least three enemy vessels: the Zheleznyakov minesweeper, the Admiral Essen frigate, and the Project 11711 Pyotr Morgunov large landing ship.
As reported by Ukrinform, the press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said this on Telegram.
“Overnight on September 10, 2026, units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck the Makhachkala Commercial Seaport in the Republic of Dagestan, Russian Federation. A fire was recorded at the facility. The extent of the damage is being clarified,” the statement said.
In addition, based on an analysis of additional data, the General Staff confirmed that on September 9, 2026, fuel-oil storage facilities in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russian Federation, were struck, as well as at least three enemy vessels: the Zheleznyakov minesweeper, the Admiral Essen frigate, and the Project 11711 Pyotr Morgunov large landing ship, the General Staff noted.
The Makhachkala Commercial Seaport is the only ice-free deep-water port of the Russian Federation on the Caspian Sea and an important transport and logistics hub.
