Former Twitter employees have launched a new social media platform called Twitter.now, featuring an automated artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to detect misinformation and fake news, alongside the revival of the iconic blue bird logo and signature blue-and-white theme amid an ongoing trademark dispute with X Corp.Twitter.now is the creation of Operation Bluebird, a startup led by Stephen Coates, a former legal counsel for Twitter. The initiative aims to bring back the original name and brand identity of the pioneer microblogging platform.
Operation Bluebird maintains that Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter in 2022 and subsequent rebranding of the company and platform to X constituted an abandonment of the original intellectual property and trademark rights, rendering them legally available for reuse.
However, X Corp filed a lawsuit against Operation Bluebird in late 2025, seeking a court injunction to block the launch of the social network under the Twitter.now name.
The case remains under judicial review. Judge Colm Connolly noted in preliminary comments that X had failed to present convincing evidence regarding its continued active use of the "tweet" trademark and bird logo, though no official ruling has yet been delivered.
