It first emerges on the weather radar in the early hours of Thursday over the Atlantic Ocean.It then slowly moves eastwards, drenching Northern Ireland first, before the western tips of England, Wales, and Scotland see downpours in the mid-afternoon. The band of rain then intensifies as it hits inland areas of England and Scotland, with up to 16mm - more than half-an-inch - predicted to fall in the Lake District at around 5pm.By the evening, the downpours hit eastern cities such as Newcastle and Hull. Rain remains heavy for a time, but should clear by the early hours of Friday.The Met Office forecast says: “Cloud and rain will spread erratically eastwards throughout the day.
