The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued an urgent evacuation warning on the evening of September 8, ordering crews aboard oil tankers docked or anchored in Kuwait and Bahrain to abandon their vessels immediately.
According to the IRGC Navy statement, the warning applies to all oil tankers operating within the anchorages and ports of Kuwait and Bahrain, nations the IRGC designated as “hosts” of U.S. forces and “partners in their wickedness.”
The IRGC declared that crews must “immediately abandon” their ships, warning that vessels remaining at berths or offshore anchorages will be targeted.
This ultimatum follows reports from Tasnim News Agency that a small Iranian oil tanker was struck by a U.S. missile approximately four miles off Kharg Island. Tasnim noted that the vessel was hit within Kharg’s anchorage zone, resulting in no casualties, as crew members evacuated the ship.
Earlier, Israeli outlet i24NEWS quoted an American official as stating that U.S. military forces were targeting Iranian oil tankers on Tuesday evening, September 8.
