North Macedonia, which has held the status of an EU candidate country for over 20 years, has achieved truly remarkable results in implementing European reforms and is ready to share them with Ukraine.
Timcho Mucunski, North Macedonia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, made these remarks in an interview with Ukrinform.
First and foremost, he expressed his conviction that EU accession should not be accompanied by intimidation or the practice of unilateral concessions.
“Since our country gained independence [here], there has never been any doubt that we were and remain unwavering in our aspirations to build a modern Euro-Atlantic society. In this regard, most often at the request of external forces, we have made various concessions,” Mucunski noted.
For instance, North Macedonia changed its country’s name and flag and amended its Constitution several times.
