US President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are planning to visit Moscow and Kyiv in the coming days with a proposal to end the war, President Donald Trump said Friday.
“I sent Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, two great negotiators. They’ve done a great job, and we sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done. And there may be a good chance that we’ll do it,” Trump said in remarks at the White House.
The visit to the Ukrainian capital would mark the envoys’ first trip to the country that has been at war for years and under a steady barrage of Russian attacks in recent weeks. They have visited Moscow in the past.
Citing unnamed sources, Russia’s state-run news agency TASS reported on Friday that the visits would happen this weekend.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that Witkoff and Kushner are planning to visit Kyiv on Sunday after going to Moscow.
