Jon Stewart returned to “The Daily Show” desk Tuesday night and used the trailer for Nathan Fielder’s Elizabeth Holmes documentary “You Can See Everything” to troll President Donald Trump and his most dedicated aide, known to some as “the human printer.”
After attacking Trump for living in a “reality distortion field,” often rejecting the views and facts of experts and journalists in favor of his own outlook, Stewart mused, “Maybe it’s just better to be the guy in ‘The Matrix,’ going, ‘Oh, this blue pill’s not so bad! That reality has steak!’ But I know too much. How do I get there? Who would give me the blue pill?”
Through a series of news clips, Stewart introduced the audience to Trump staffer Natalie Harp. She earned the nickname “the human printer” because “she follows the president everywhere with a laptop and printer, feeding him a steady stream of positive news stories,” according to one sound bite.
In another clip presented by Stewart, CNN reported that she “once jumped in the trunk of an SUV to ensure she would be able to be with the president for a court appearance.” She also, according to a TMZ sound bite, “wrote [Trump] letters that can only be described as love letters.”
“Can we even trust her?” Stewart joked. “Well, decide for yourselves. Because tonight, here on ‘The Daily Show,’ we are premiering exclusive footage. We lived with Natalie Harp and the president for a month to determine what their relationship was really like. Let’s take a quick preview.”
