“Daily Show” host Jon Stewart on Monday tore into President Donald Trump for inserting himself into everything, even a moment that should have been pure apolitical joy, like when Spain won the World Cup on Sunday. “They celebrated receiving the World Cup trophy with a trophy hoist, which is, traditionally, it’s a moment that is shared really only by the players,” Stewart said as he rolled footage of the team. Except Trump, who had helped present the trophy, didn’t leave the stage right away. Instead, he remained alongside the players. “What the fuck are you doing on the stage? It’s for the players!” Stewart yelled. “Goddamn! Why must everything be tainted by the overinflated ego of Cankles Muldoon? Why? Why?” Spain celebrates with the World Cup trophy ... and Trump.Tom Weller/picture alliance via Getty ImagesAfter the game, Trump bragged about the U.S. performance as one of the hosts of the event.“I thought it was incredible. It was four times greater than any FIFA ever held,” Trump declared. Stewart was baffled.“What’s a FIFA? How do you hold a FIFA?” he asked. “How could our FIFA be four times greater than any other FIFA?” Trump then revised his number immediately after saying it. “And it’s probably about five times, actually, they’re telling me today,” he said.“Is that what they told you?” Stewart said, then explained to the president exactly why “they” were telling him those kinds of things. “You know they’re telling you that because everyone around you lies to you because you’re a little baby,” Stewart said.
