Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress, Peter Obi, has urged the Federal Government to take decisive action to end killings and displacement in Plateau State, saying about 45,000 residents from more than 20 communities have been forced from their homes.
Obi spoke on Tuesday during a sympathy visit to a community in Mangu Local Government Area of the state recently affected by attacks.
The former Anambra State governor described the prolonged displacement of residents as unacceptable and said the continued existence of Internally Displaced Persons was evidence of the failure to guarantee their safety.
“As long as you are in an IDP camp, Nigeria is in an IDP camp. It is when you go home that Nigeria is at home. You are not supposed to be here,” Obi told the displaced persons.
