Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has faulted the Federal Government’s response to insecurity in Plateau State, saying the persistence of internally displaced persons (IDP) camps reflects a systemic failure to protect lives and restore affected communities.

Obi spoke during a visit to an IDP camp in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, where he sympathised with residents displaced by violent attacks.

He said the continued stay of thousands of Nigerians in displacement camps should be treated as a national emergency, calling on the government to secure communities and create conditions for safe return.

“As long as you are in an IDP camp, Nigeria is in an IDP camp. When you go home, Nigeria is at home. You are not supposed to be here,” Obi said.
