A 54-year-old Tangedco commercial inspector at Winterpet was arrested by sleuths of Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for demanding and taking a bribe of ₹2,000 to provide a new electricity connection. DVAC sources said that the complainant K. Yuvaraj, 38, visited the Tangedco office with an online payment receipt and requested the suspect and commercial inspector V. Sundramoorthy to provide new electricity connectionThe complainant Yuvaraj told DVAC officials that Sundramurthy allegedly demanded a sum of ₹2,000 for providing the connection. Unwilling to pay the bribe, Yuvaraj lodged a complaint with the DVAC. A seven-member team led by V. Ganesan, Deputy SP, DVAC (Arakkonam), laid a trap and caught Sundaramurthy red-handed.
