Luca Guadagnino knows how to create good feng shui. There’s a reason two-thirds of the enviable apartment in “After the Hunt” was furnished with objects pulled straight from the director’s own collection.
Now, the “Challengers” and “Call Me by Your Name” filmmaker has teamed with longtime collaborator and production designer Stefano Baisi on Baisi Guadagnino for Zara Home, an expansive new collection spanning more than 200 pieces of furniture, lighting, tableware, textiles, rugs, mirrors and scented candles, along with a ready-to-wear line. The collection launches worldwide Sept. 26 on Zara Home and Zara’s websites.
For the launch, Guadagnino has also made a short film written by Scott Z. Burns, whose credits include “Contagion,” “The Bourne Ultimatum” and “The Report,” starring Jamie Bell, Chase Sui Wonders, Michael Stuhlbarg and Patricia Arquette.
Baisi has become one of Guadagnino’s key behind-the-scenes collaborators, serving as production designer on 2024’s “Queer,” starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, and subsequently on “After the Hunt” and Guadagnino’s upcoming “Artificial.” On “Queer,” Baisi helped construct the film’s stylized vision of 1950s Mexico City largely at Cinecittà, while “After the Hunt” saw him create the meticulously layered interiors inhabited by Julia Roberts and Michael Stuhlbarg’s academic couple.
