The Nampally police on Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old man for obstructing, intimidating and verbally abusing traffic police personnel while they were regulating traffic at Taj Island Junction on Monday.According to police, home guard K. Ravinder of Abids Traffic Police Station was deployed at the junction along with Woman ASI Vani Sree and home guard Vijay Kumar. Ravinder was carrying an official departmental camera to document traffic violations.At around 3.30 p.m. on September 7, Ravinder noticed a two-wheeler (TS 09 GB 5336) being ridden by Mohd Rizwan from Gandhi Bhavan towards Nampally T-Junction with the rider not wearing a helmet. He photographed the violation as part of the enforcement process. The rider then took a U-turn, approached Ravinder from the wrong side of the road and confronted him. He abused the home guard with offensive language and obstructed him from carrying out his official duties, the police said.The rider’s wife also joined the confrontation and abused the police personnel while recording the incident on her mobile phone. The couple continued to obstruct and intimidate the home guard before fleeing the spot on the two-wheeler at high speed.Based on Ravinder’s complaint, Nampally police registered a case under Sections 132, 221 and 352 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), besides Sections 194-D read with 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
