A 30-year-old traffic police constable was allegedly assaulted and publicly humiliated by three youths after he attempted to book them for triple riding at Nammura Thindi Junction in Nagarabhavi 2nd Stage in Bengaluru on Monday evening.The incident occurred around 5.30 p.m. during a vehicle-checking drive near B. Palya. Police constable Lakshmana Nayaka, attached to Janabharati Station, had been deployed for enforcement checks in the area when he noticed three youths travelling on a motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner in violation of traffic rules.According to the complaint, Mr. Nayak stopped the vehicle and began recording the triple-riding violation. However, two of the riders, identified as Mubarak and Shahid, became aggressive and verbally abused the policeman in full public view. The accused attacked Mr. Nayak to prevent him from performing his duties.The incident reportedly occurred at a busy junction, attracting the attention of passersby and drivers. According to police sources, the actions of the accused constituted an assault and humiliation of a public servant while he was discharging official duties.Based on the complaint, the Annapoorneshwari Nagar police have registered a case against the accused under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing a public servant, assaulting a government employee on duty and criminal intimidation.
