Based on the complaint by Mr. Kanti, the Urwa police have registered a case against the assailants for offences under Sections 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant), 109 (attempt to murder), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty), and 3(5) (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A pillion rider on a motorcycle struck a 35-year-old police constable on the head before fleeing the scene in Kodical in the early hours of Sunday.Urwa police said constable Hanumanth Kanti was on duty along with home guard Basavaraj to check suspicious vehicle movement in the area. They were stationed near the Narayan Guru Cooperative Society building in Kodical.Around 2 a.m., they signalled a two-wheeler to stop. The two-wheeler rider sped away. A few minutes later, they returned to the spot. The pillion rider struck Mr. Kanti on the head with a piece of asbestos sheet before fleeing again. Mr. Kanti, who was injured, and Mr. Basavaraj tried in vain to catch the assailants.Mr. Kanti was admitted to a hospital with a minor head injury and was subsequently stated to be out of danger.The assault was captured on a CCTV camera located in the area.Based on the complaint by Mr. Kanti, the Urwa police have registered a case against the assailants for offences under Sections 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant), 109 (attempt to murder), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty), and 3(5) (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
