The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have arrested two persons allegedly involved in the attack of civil police constable Hanumantha Kanti, near Narayan Guru Cooperative Society building in Kodikal, in the early hours of Sunday.The police identified the accused as K.R. Sachin, 24, of Arasinamakki in Kokkada of Belthangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district, and Chandan, 24, of Nellyadi in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada.The police said Sachin worked as a driver in factory dealing with sweets in Mangaluru, while Chandan worked as a technician in a car showroom in Kuloor, also in Mangaluru.In the early hours of May 24, the two were roaming around the city on a motorcycle. The two were angered over Kanti’s attempt to stop the motorcycle. The accused, sitting pillion on the motorcycle, hit Kanti’s head with a piece of asbestos sheet.The Urva police booked a case under Sections 121(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt to a public servant), 109 (attempt to murder), 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharging duty), and 3(5) (criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.The CCB sleuths traced the accused to a hide out in Kanhangad of Keralam state. The sleuths raided the place on Tuesday and arrested the accused. The two were handed over to Urva police for further investigation.
