Two youths were arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting a police officer who was on crowd control duty during Sivaratri celebrations at Aluva Manappuram. The arrested are Harikrishnan, 28, and Akshay, 29, both from Kadungalloor near Aluva West.
The duo allegedly attacked Ranjith, the officer from the Chengamanadu police station who was on duty near the Kottaramkadavu footbridge, around 9.30 p.m. on Sunday. They were provoked after Mr. Ranjith instructed them to move their motorbike which was parked obstructing the way, police sources said.
The injured officer sought treatment from a nearby hospital.
