The retired government employees have demanded that the State government remove the anomalies in the medical insurance scheme meant for pensioners. They staged a demonstration near Lourdhunathan Statue in Palayamkottai on Tuesday in support of their demands.The protesters said the medical insurance scheme for pensioners was riddled with anomalies should be set right by the government. Since these rectifications will avoid practical difficulties in reimbursing the medical expenses and the rejection of claims, the government should take steps for removing the anomalies.Steps should be taken to ensure hassle-free medical treatment to those who were yet to get their medical insurance identity cards even after the registration of their names. Total cashless treatment should be ensured in all listed hospitals and the government should bear the medical expenses for the treatment given to the pensioners in unlisted hospitals also, they said.Similar agitations were organised in Thoothukudi, Nagercoil, and Tenkasi.
