More than 500 students and faculty members of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) participated in an eye donation awareness walkathon held on the campus on Monday.The participants carried placards and raised slogans to highlight the importance of eye donation. Samyuktha Venkatachalam, Trustee of the Sri Ramachandra Educational and Health Trust, attended as the chief guest.Samarapuri A., Head, Department of Ophthalmology, said people who pledge their eyes must inform their family members, as timely notification to the hospital after death is essential for corneal retrieval.Uma Sekar,Vice-Chancellor, S. Gayatri, Cornea Specialist, and doctors, nurses, faculty members and students joined the campaign, reaffirming SRIHER’s efforts to promote awareness and voluntary eye donation.
