Government outlines migration measures after violence at Durban’s Che Guevara

Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has condemned violence at Che Guevara in KwaZulu-Natal, saying immigration management and law enforcement remain solely the responsibility of government and nobody else.

Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) chairperson and Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi has condemned recent sporadic acts of violence at Che Guevara in KwaZulu-Natal, saying immigration management and law enforcement remain the responsibility of government.

Kubayi briefed the media on Tuesday on progress made in implementing the government’s five-point plan on migration management, almost a month after the IMC’s previous progress report.

Kubayi said the situation had significantly improved since the committee’s previous update, while thanking non-governmental organisations, members of the public and other role players.

“We condemn the sporadic acts of violence such as we have seen at Che Guevara in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal recently,” Kubayi said.
