The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Uppal Zone, in coordination with Kushaiguda Police, busted a hashish oil transportation network and arrested three suspected drug peddlers, seizing 12 kg of hashish oil worth an estimated ₹1.5 crore.The arrests were made on September 7 after police received information that three persons carrying hashish oil would arrive near Road No. 5 in Nagarjuna Nagar Colony, Kushaiguda, between 3.30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to deliver the consignment. Acting on the information, the police kept surveillance at the location. At around 4 p.m., police spotted the three suspects arriving with a violet-coloured carrying bag and apprehended them before they could hand over the consignment to the intended recipient.The bag contained eight packets of a black-coloured liquid substance with an oily consistency and pungent smell. Police said the total quantity was approximately 12 kg of hashish oil. Three mobile phones and the carry bag used to transport the contraband were also seized.The arrested persons were identified as Bonangi Harichandra Prasad, 30, an auto driver from Chintapally in Alluri Sitharama Raju district; Syed Raza Imam, 49, who runs a fast-food business in Visakhapatnam; and Seerum Gangadhar, 40, a taxi driver from Narsipatnam.The trio was part of a network transporting hashish oil from the Narsipatnam-Chintapally region of Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad for onward delivery. Police said Harichandra Prasad was allegedly directed by his cousin Mark alias Rishi to collect the consignment at Narsipatnam and follow the instructions of Vijay, who was coordinating the operation.The three travelled to Hyderabad with the consignment and were instructed to hand it over to a person at ECIL. The police said Mark, identified as an alleged supplier, and Vijay, described as a supplier/coordinator, are absconding.
