The Stuttgart-based company is expanding its portfolio for the electrification of bus and truck depots. With vSECC.InPlug, Vector presents a communication controller board integrated directly into the DC charging plug. This design allows the charging plug and central power electronics to be spatially separated by a significantly greater distance.

According to Vector, this addresses a technical limitation of conventional DC charging architectures. In these systems, the possible distance between the charging communication controller and the vehicle is limited to approximately 7.5 metres. With vSECC.InPlug, the manufacturer now supports distances of up to 100 metres between the vehicle and the central charging infrastructure. The current company announcement does not yet include details on initial customer projects or experiences from regular depot operations.

Technically, Vector relocates part of the charging communication directly into the DC plug. The board installed there handles power-line communication with the vehicle. An additional controller remains centrally located in the switchgear cabinet, continuing to manage the charging process, communication protocols, power electronics, and backend connectivity.
