DKV Mobility is launching a charging card specifically for transport companies operating electric trucks. The DKV Card +Charge Truck provides access to more than 3,000 verified truck-compatible charging points across 17 European countries. The card covers both charging for electric trucks and refuelling for conventional vehicles.Image: DKV MobilityCharging an electric truck on the go is straightforward—provided you can find a suitable charger. However, charging conditions are often poor, and prices are relatively high.DKV Mobility is now addressing this issue with an offering that combines access to more than 3,000 truck-compatible charging points across Europe with unified billing and ‘attractive conditions.’ To achieve this, the company has negotiated preferential charging rates with several charge point operators that go beyond standard public charging tariffs. These rates do not yet apply to all 3,000 charging points, but the network is steadily expanding, as electrive learned upon enquiry. With this coverage and charging network scale, the DKV Card +Charge Truck is currently unique. While Aral also offers a fuel and charging card (from Aral Fleet Solutions), its focus is primarily on providing access to the 25 Aral locations specifically equipped for electric trucks within its own network.DKV Mobility is launching a fuel and charging card that enables unified billing for charging, refuelling, washing and other vehicle-related services. However, the company is deliberately positioning the favourable charging conditions as the key added value.“The card complements DKV Mobility’s existing product and service portfolio and is part of the growth strategy […] in the field of e-mobility. The goal is to make the transition to alternative drivetrains as seamless as possible for customers,” the company explained. According to DKV Mobility, fleet operators face new challenges during the transition, ‘particularly in accessing suitable charging infrastructure, operational planning, and integrating diverse billing and energy systems.’Naturally, it is essential that cardholders can filter for truck-compatible chargers. DKV Mobility states that it reviews every truck charging station in its network against clearly defined minimum standards. These include a minimum canopy height of four metres, a passage width of at least 2.7 metres, and sufficient space for comfortable manoeuvring.Additionally, the stations must accommodate vehicles with a length of at least nine metres. The company also ensures adequate charging power: at over 80 per cent of the more than 3,000 locations, charging capacities exceed 300 kW.At many of the truck-compatible stations, businesses can also benefit from the aforementioned favourable charging conditions. Prices per station, charging time, and kilowatt-hours consumed are transparent and visible in real time via the DKV Mobility App, as stated in a communication received via email. The card provides access to additional services at selected locations, including repairs, tyre services, vehicle washing, and parking. And: “If no truck-compatible charging point is nearby, drivers also have access to DKV Mobility’s entire charging network, comprising around 1.2 million charge points,” the mobility service provider adds.“The energy supply for commercial vehicles is becoming more complex—with more drivetrain types, more providers, and more billing systems,” Sven Mehringer, Managing Director at DKV Mobility and responsible for Energy & Vehicle Services, commented. “The DKV Card +Charge Truck provides fleet operators with a solution: one card for all drivetrains, all services, and one bill. This actively drives our development into a leading integrated mobility platform.”Tim Dambor, Director of Product Management for eMobility Roaming at DKV Mobility, added: “For electric truck drivers and dispatchers, reliability is key. With our verified network and real-time overview in the app, both can be confident: the next station is reachable, and the vehicle can actually charge there.” The card is now available across Europe.Source: Information via e-mail (in German)
