NewsUS NewsAccidentsA boy, aged 11, has died after the go-kart he was riding, with an eight-year-old girl also on board, rolled over into a pond in the town of Darien, Genesee County, in New York21:07, 07 Sep 2026Updated 21:14, 07 Sep 2026An 11-year-old boy has died after the go-kart he was driving rolled into a pond with a young girl also on board, police say.‌Emergency services rushed to the incident in the town of Darien, Genesee County, in New York, where the boy is understood to have been driving the go-kart when it crashed into the water.‌The incident happened on Sunday afternoon with the boy reportedly trapped by the go-kart in the water with family and firefighters freeing him before he was given CPR at the scene.‌Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said police responded at around 2.30pm and the boy was taken by air ambulance to the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester but was pronounced dead on arrival.‌An 8-year-old girl passenger was treated at the scene added the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. An investigation has been launched by police with no further information so far released, reported WIBV.Many people have taken to social media to express their sadness at what happened and offer condolences.One person wrote on Facebook: "So sad. I live on the same road. Saw the responders. Last I heard he was in serious condition, on his way to strong.
