The Hyderabad Traffic Police have registered seven criminal cases in the past week against vehicle owners allegedly using fake, tampered or unauthorised registration number plates, as part of an intensified enforcement drive.The cases were registered at the RGI Airport, Kanchanbagh, Khairatabad, Osmania University, Jubilee Hills, Maheshwaram and Adilabad-1 Town police stations, with multiple vehicles also seized during the drive.According to the Hyderabad Traffic Police, the violations involved fraudulent registration plates allegedly used to conceal vehicle identities, evade traffic enforcement and violate prescribed regulations. The traffic police reiterated that only government-approved High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) are permitted on vehicles. Custom alterations, missing digits and temporary stickers on registration plates are illegal, it said.The department warned vehicle owners that the use of fake or manipulated registration plates could lead to criminal prosecution and immediate seizure of the vehicle. The traffic police said such enforcement drives would continue across the city as part of efforts to ensure compliance with registration plate norms, improve road safety and prevent the misuse of vehicles to evade enforcement.
