Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 1,860 cases during a week-long special enforcement drive against unauthorised passenger transport, overloading, permit violations and illegal parking by private transport vehicles across the city.The drive, conducted in coordination with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) officials from July 6, targeted autos, minivans, jeeps, multi-utility vehicles and other private transport vehicles operating near TGSRTC bus stations.According to the police, the highest number of violations involved bus bay parking, with 520 cases booked, followed by carrying excess passengers (504), illegal parking or waiting near bus stops (342), and operating without valid documents such as driving licences, registration certificates, fitness certificates, insurance or pollution certificates (342).Police also booked 141 cases against goods vehicles found carrying passengers illegally and 11 cases against private transport vehicles operating without valid permits or in violation of permit conditions.The Hyderabad Traffic Police said it adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards such violations, stating that they endanger public safety, disrupt public transport services and contribute to traffic congestion. Officials said similar enforcement drives would be conducted regularly to ensure compliance with the Motor Vehicles Act and promote safer and more disciplined transport across Hyderabad.The traffic police appealed to owners, drivers and operators of private transport vehicles to comply with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and related rules.
